What’s Cooking in Kindergarten?
Cooking in the classroom is not only fun, but a wonderful learning experience for kindergartners. We learn to wash hand, follow direction, measure, mix ingredients, stir, and create something good to eat!
We try to make one snack that goes along with our letter of the week.

Here are some of our favorite classroom recipes. I hope you will try some of these recipes at home.
First Week of School (Introduction to the Alphabet)
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Tree
(This recipe makes one tree!)
1 long pretzel (trunk of tree)
3 slices of a green apple (leaves)
3 chocolate covered raisins or 3 Coco Puffs (coconuts)
The children may place all ingredients on a paper plate.
You may use peanut butter to stick the coconuts to the tree.
Ll Week
Ladybug Cookies
Ingredients:
Vanilla wafers
vanilla frosting
red food coloring
tube of pre-mixed black or dark color frosting gel
chocolate chips
raisins
Directions:
~ Mix red food coloring with a can of vanilla frosting.
~ Give each child a vanilla wafer, some red frosting, and a Popsicle stick.
~ Let each child draw a T on the frosting with a tube of pre-mixed frosting for the head and back areas of the ladybug.
~ Add two raisins for eyes and chocolate chips for the spots on the ladybug's back.
Lemonade
(makes approximately 64 ounces)
Ingredients:
6 lemons
6 cups water
1 1/4 cup sugar
ice
Directions:
~ Squeeze all 6 lemons into a container.
~ Add sugar and mix until sugar dissolves.
~ Add water and ice. Mix it together.
~ Enjoy your refreshing lemonade!
Lincoln's Log Cabin
Ingredients:
1 slice of bread
1 tablespoon of peanut butter
5 thin pretzels
honey in a squeeze bottle
Directions:
~ Spread peanut butter over the bread.
(Give the children a choice of peanut butter or honey.)
~ Break a pretzel in half for the roof.
~ Place four more pretzels on peanut butter for logs.
Oo Week
Octopus Stew
Ingredients:
1 pkg. of hotdogs
ketchup and mustard
Directions:
Cut the hotdogs in half. Make 4 short slits about an inch from the end of the hot dog.
These are the eight legs. Boil the hot dogs until done. Use mustard and ketchup to dip.
Gg Week
Green Eggs and Ham
Ingredients:
1 dozen eggs
1 cup of milk
salt
2 slices of ham (diced)
green food coloring
Directions:
~ Mix eggs, milk, salt, ham, eggs, and 2-3 drops of green food coloring.
~ Pour into an electric skillet.
~ Cook over low to medium heat until done.
This recipe should serve 20-24 children.
Gumdrop Groundhog
Ingredients for one child:
2" end of unpeeled banana
chocolate frosting
2 raisins
3 gumdrops (ears and nose)
6 chow mein noodles (whiskers)
Directions:
~ Peel the banana.
~ Set it up with point on top.
~ Use frosting to put on two eyes, 2 ears, & a nose.
~ Add whiskers.
Hh Week
Happy Graham Faces
Ingredients:
Graham crackers
softened cream cheese
frosting gel
Directions:
~ Give each child a graham cracker, cream cheese, and a Popsicle stick.
~ Have each child spread on the cream cheese with their Popsicle stick.
~ Then give each child a chance to make a smiley face with their frosting gel.
(You can use this recipe when you are discussing "Feelings.")
Heart Shaped Sandwiches
Ingredients:
white bread
red jam or jelly
heart-shaped cookie cutter
Directions:
~ Give each child two pieces of bread, a heart shaped cookie cutter, some jelly, and a
popsicle stick.
~ Each child can cut two heart shapes with their cookie cutter.
~ Then they can spread jelly on their bread to make a sandwich.
(Great for Valentine's Day.)
Hibernation Creation
Ingredients:
1 slice of bread for each child
1 tablespoon peanut butter
3 banana slices per child
10 raisins for each child
Directions:
~ Spread the peanut butter on the bread.
~ Count 2 ears and a snout.
~ Put the banana slices there.
~ Add raisins for eyes, nose and a mouth.
~ Yummy winter time fun!
Hippo Hamburger
Ingredients:
2 vanilla wafers as the "bread"
1 chocolate cookie as the "hamburger"
vanilla frosting mixed with:
red food coloring for the "ketchup", green food coloring for the "lettuce", yellow food coloring for the "mustard"
Directions:
Children can assemble the "sandwich" with the chocolate cookie and assorted frostings.
Top with a second vanilla wafer.
Tt Week
Traffic Lights
Ingredients:
1 graham cracker for each child
1 tablespoon of peanut butter
3 M&M's (red, green, yellow)
Directions:
Children can spread peanut butter with plastic knife and place each
M&M in the appropriate place.
Variation: use 1 tablespoon of chocolate icing instead of peanut butter
Pp Week
Penguin Treat
Recipe for one treat:
2 chocolate sandwich cookies
2 M & Ms (any color)
3 candy corn
Directions:
~ Twist one cookie apart.
~ Place the cookie with less icing on the top.
~ Place cookie with while icing showing at the bottom.
~ Add two candy corns for the feet.
~ Two M&Ms for the eyes.
~ 1 candy corn for the beak.
~ Break other cookie in half for wings.
Now enjoy!
Pudding in a Cup
Ingredients:
1/4 cup of Milk
1 tablespoon instant pudding
Materials:
1/4 cup measuring cup
tablespoon measuring spoon
plastic spoon for each child
one 5 ounce cup per child
Directions:
~ Measure the milk and pour it into the cup.
~ Add pudding mix to the cup.
~ Stir mixture well.
Eat and enjoy.
Purple Smoothie
Ingredients
6 cups of Fat free Vanilla Yogurt or Ice Cream
2 cups of milk
1 can of frozen grape juice (thawed)
Directions:
Mix all the ingredients in a blender. Pour about 1/2 cup for each child.
This should serve about 20-24.
Aa Week
Ants on a Log
Ingredients:
1 pkg. of long pretzels
1 jar of peanut butter
1 large box of raisins
Directions:
Spread peanut butter over the large pretzel with a plastic knife. Drop a few raisins on the peanut butter.
Yum! Yum!
Variation: use caramel sauce with chocolate chips
Ant Snack
Each child will need the following:
three large marshmallows
seven skinny stick pretzels
two chocolate chips
Directions
~ Stick the three marshmallows on one pretzel.
~ Stick six pretzels (three on each side) in the marshmallows to give the ant legs.
~ Add the chocolate chips to give the ant eyes.
Nn Week
Nests
Ingredients:
8 squares (8 ounces) semisweet chocolate
2 Tbs. vegetable shortening
1 cup crisp rice cereal
1 cup chow mein noodles
1/2 cup sweetened shredded coconut
1 pkg. miniature candy-coated chocolate eggs
Directions:
~ Line 2 baking sheets with waxed paper. In a large microwave-safe bowl,
combine chocolate and shortening.
~Microwave on medium, stirring at 1-minute intervals until chocolate is melted and smooth...about 2 minutes.
~ Gently stir rice cereal, chow mein noodles and coconut into chocolate
mixture until thoroughly blended.
~ Drop chocolate mixture by heaping teaspoonfuls 1 inch apart onto
prepared baking sheets.
~ Using the back of a spoon, make an indentation in each spoonful of
chocolate mixture to form a nest.
~ Place nests on baking sheets in refrigerator for an hour.
~ Fill each nest with candy.
Makes about 20 nests.
Nifty Necklaces
Ingredients:
1 large bag of shoestring Licorice or Twizzlers peeled apart
Cheerios
Fruit Loops
Life Savers
small pretzels
Directions:
~ Set out bowls filled with Cheerios, Fruit Loops, and Life Savers.
~ Have the students make a pattern with their candies on a piece of wax paper.
~ Add a pretzel in the middle.
~ Tie a large knot on one end of the Licorice string.
~ Let the students string their patterns.
~ Tie ends together, wear, and nibble as needed.
Mm Week
Moo Shake
Ingredients:
chocolate syrup
vanilla ice cream
milk
Directions:
~ In a blender, mix vanilla ice cream and milk for 30 seconds.
~ Pour into a cup and let each child add a squirt of chocolate syrup, stir, and enjoy.
(One verse of "Old McDonald Had a Cow" is a favorite song which can be sung while waiting
for the blender.)
Muddy Clouds
Ingredients:
1 pkg. of marshmallows
1 bottle of chocolate syrup
Directions:
~ Give each child 3-4 marshmallows and 1 tablespoon of chocolate syrup.
~ Children can dip their marshmallows in the syrup and make "Muddy Clouds."
Ii Week
Icy Cream
Ingredients:
1 cup of milk per 2 students
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 tbsp sugar
12 tbsp salt
ice cubes
toppings (sprinkles, chocolate chips, syrup...ect)
Directions:
~ Place the ice and salt inside a gallon Zip-Lock bag.
~ Place all the other ingredients into a quart size bag. Seal the quart size bag after
squeezing all the air out of it.
~ Place the smaller bag inside the larger bag containing ice and salt and seal it.
~ Shake back and forth for about 5 minutes, until the mixture thickens.
~ Pour it into a bowl, add toppings, and enjoy!
*You can also do this as a class by using a big coffee can and rolling it around!
Ss Week
Scary Spider Snacks
Ingredients:
1 Ritz cracker
1 spoonful of peanut butter (or chocolate icing)
8 pretzel sticks (legs)
2 Skittles (eyes)
Directions:
~ Spread peanut butter over cracker.
~Place 4 pretzels on each side of the
cracker.
~ Choose spooky eyes from Skittles or M&Ms.
Golden Graham Smores
Ingredients:
3/4 c. light corn syrup
3 tbsp. butter
1 pkg. (11.5 oz.) milk chocolate morsels
3 c. miniature marshmallows
1 tsp. vanilla
1 pkg. (12 oz.) Golden Graham cereal (9 c.)
Directions:
~ Grease rectangular pan, 13x9x2 inches.
~ Heat syrup, butter and morsels to boiling, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla.
~ Pour over cereal; toss until coated. Fold in marshmallows, 1 cup at a time. Press in pan with buttered back of spoon. Let stand 1 hour.
~ Cut into 2 inch squares. Store loosely covered at room temperature up to 2 days. Makes 24 squares
This is a great snack during camping day!
Snowballs
Ingredients:
6 cups of Rice Krispies
stick of butter
10 ounce bag of marshmallows
powdered sugar
Directions:
~ An adult should melt the margarine in a saucepan and stir in the marshmallows until
smooth.
~ Stir in the Rice Krispies.
~ After the mixture has cooled slightly, give each child a little butter for their hands.
~ Give each child some of the mixture and have them roll it into a ball.
~ Give each child a zip-lock bag with some confectioner's sugar.
~ Help them close the bag and shake it.
(Makes approximately 24 two-inch "snowballs". The children will have a "ball!")
Snowbird Snack
Ingredients for one child:
1 graham cracker
marshmallow creme
5 raisins
5 mini chocolate chips
sunflower seeds
Directions:
~ Spread a tablespoon of marshmallow creme over a graham cracker.
~ Count 5 raisins (for birds)
~ Give each bird a beak. (chip)
~ Sprinkle with sunflower seeds.
Ff Week
Fish Snack Ingredients:
1 large pretzel stick
1 jar of peanut butter
bowl
1 16oz. Box of Goldfish crackers
Directions:
Pour some of the Goldfish crackers in the bowl
Dip the end of the pretzel stick in the jar of peanut butter
Stick the pretzel in the bowl of Goldfish and go fishing!
Fly Pie
Ingredients:
1 large box of vanilla pudding
3 cups of milk
1 box of vanilla wafers
1 bag of chocolate chips
cupcake liner for each child
Directions:
~ Mix pudding according to the directions on the package.
~ Place one vanilla wafer in a cupcake liner.
~ Scoop one spoonful (about a Tablespoon) of pudding over wafer.
~ Sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
It's yummy in our tummies!!!
Rr Week
Reindeer Sandwiches
Ingredients:
1 slice of bread per child
1 spoonful of peanut butter
2 straight pretzels
2 M&M's (or 2 raisins)
1 red M&M (or 1 red hot)
Directions:
~ Trim the crusts off the bread and cut the slice into a triangle.
~Spread peanut butter over the bread; place the 2 pretzels like antlers on
the long side of the triangle; place the M&M's for the eyes and mouth.
This is a classroom favorite and the children love creating the sandwich.
Thanksgiving Feast
Navajo Fry Bread
Sift together:
1 cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
Blend in about:
~ 1/2 cup lukewarm water
~ Stir with a fork until you have dough that can be worked with.
~ Roll out 1/4" thick and cut into 2"squares.
~ You may poke a hole in the middle if you wish.
~ Fry in hot oil (1/2") until puffed---then turn
and brown on the other side.
~Drain on a paper towel.
Serve hot and dip in honey, jam, fruit, gravy or butter.
Butter
Fill a clean baby food jar half full of whipping cream.
Screw the lid on tightly. Let two children take
turns shaking the jar. After about 10 minutes, the
cream will be whipped. Lumps of yellow butter will form.
Drain off the liquid and add a little salt, if desired.
Spread the butter on Indian Fry Bread or crackers.
*This recipe is great at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Rising Rolls
Ingredients:
1 can of Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
8 large marshmallows
Melted butter
Cinnamon and sugar mixed together
Directions:
~ Give each child one rectangle section of dough.
~ Give each child one large marshmallow.
~ Let each child roll their marshmallow in the melted butter.
Then, dip the marshmallow into the cinnamon sugar mixture.
~ Have each child place the marshmallow on their section of dough and carefully wrap it.
Make sure all edges are pinched tight!
~ Place the rolls in the oven.
~ Bake the rolls, following the directions on the package.
Makes 8 rolls.
Kk Week
Kite Bites
Ingredients:
1 slice of sandwich bread per child
peanut butter
fruit flavored cream cheese
grape jelly
strawberry jam
1 red string licorice per child
Directions:
~ Cut the crust off each bread slice ahead of time.
~ Then cut each slice into four triangular pieces.
~ Spread each topping on each triangle.
~ Put them together to form a kite. Add the licorice for a kite tail.

Bear Face
Ingredients:
wheat bread
peanut butter
raisins
M&M's
1" circle cookie cutter
2" circle cookie cutter
bag of red hots
Directions:
~ Give each child two pieces of bread, some peanut butter, brown M&M’s, a red hot, and 3 raisins, and a Popsicle stick.
~ Have the children to use the cookie cutter to cut 2 small circles and 1 large circle from a piece of wheat bread.
~ Arrange the circles to make a face and 2 ears.
~ Spread on the peanut butter with the Popsicle stick and add the 2 brown M & M's for the eyes, a red hot for the nose, and 3 raisins for the mouth.
Butterfly Snack
Ingredients:
1 slice of bread for each child
1 cucumber spear for each child
cream cheese
Directions:
~ Peel the cucumbers and then cut them into spears ahead of time.
~ Use a butterfly-shaped cookie cutter to cut each bread slice.
~ Spread the cream cheese on the bread.
~ Place the cucumber spear in the middle.
~ Roll the bread up.
~Then unroll to find a butterfly!
Uu Week
Unusual Punch
Ingredients:
2 packages strawberry Kool-Aid
2 cups sugar
2 quarts water
2 quarts Pineapple Juice
2 16oz cans Fruit Cocktail (drained)
Directions:
~ Blend ingredients together and pour into cups.
~ Add 4-5 miniature marshmallows to float on top!
Christmas Foods Christmas Around the World
(Our class will talk about Australia)
Australian Chocolate Truffles
Ingredients:
¾ cup sweetened condensed milk
12 oz. chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions:
~ Melt chocolate.
~ Add all the other ingredients.
~Mix and cool in refrigerator for 10 minutes.
~ Roll into balls.
~ Then roll in candy sprinkles.
Zz Week
Zany Zoo
Ingredients:
1 graham cracker per child
2 can of white frosting
1 bag of Animal Crackers
1 bag of coconut
blue and green food coloring
blue and green crystal sprinkles
Directions:
~ Mix half of 1 can of frosting with blue food coloring.
~ Mix the other half of frosting with coconut and green food coloring.
~ Give each child a graham cracker and have them spread on white frosting with a Popsicle stick.
~ Use green coconut and sprinkles to make grass in one corner of the graham cracker.
~ Use blue frosting and sprinkles to make a pond.
~ Place several animal crackers in your zoo.

Confetti Crackers
Ingredients:
1 box of graham crackers
1 jar of marshmallow cream
sprinkles
Directions:
~ Give each child a graham cracker and some marshmallow cream.
~ Have them spread the marshmallow cream on with a plastic knife.
~ Then add some sprinkles for the "Confetti!"
Ee Week
Eggstraterrestrial
Ingredients:
12 hard-boiled eggs
3 tbsp. Creamy Italian Dressing
48 thin pretzel sticks
48 mini marshmallows
24 peanuts
48 olive slices
green food coloring
Directions:
~ Peel and halve the hard-boiled eggs. Remove the yolks, put in a bowl and
mash with a fork.
~ Add 3 tbsp of Creamy Italian Dressing to the yolks and stir.
~ Add a few drops of green food coloring until the mixture becomes "alien
green."
~ Stuff the eggs with the yolk mixture.
~ Place a mini marshmallow on the end of each pretzel stick. Use two of
these to make antennas.
~ Then add 2 olive slice eyes and 1 peanut nose to each egg to complete your
eggstraterrestrial!

Yellow Snack
The children will be able to eat a variety of yellow foods like bananas, cheese, lemons, yellow skittles, yellow M&M’s etc.
Yummy Yams
Ingredients:
1/2 or 1/4 precooked yam per child
1 tbsp brown sugar per child
5 mini marshmallows per child
.
Directions:
~ Peel the yam and slice it into circles.
~ Place the circles on a piece of aluminum foil.
~ Sprinkle each circle with brown sugar and top with 5 mini marshmallows. Yummy!
~ (If a toaster oven is available, lightly brown the yams.)
Dd Week
Dandy Dirt Dessert
Ingredients:
2 pkgs. of instant chocolate pudding (2tbsp. per child)
1/2 gallon of milk (3 tbsp. per child)
1 pkg. of Oreo Cookies
Gummy worms
Directions:
~ Give each child a cup with 3 tablespoons of milk.
~ Let each student measure out two tablespoons of instant pudding mix and mix with a spoon.
~ Give each child a Zip-lock bag and a sandwich cookie. They can smash the cookie in the bag.
~ Pour the cookie crumbs on top of the pudding.
~ Add a yummy gummy worm!
Eat and Enjoy!
Ducky Treats
Ingredients:
yellow cake mix
yellow food coloring
yellow frosting
coconut
few chocolate chips
bag of candy corn
Directions:
~ Have an adult prepare cupcakes for the duck's head using a yellow cake
mix.
~ Mix some yellow food coloring with the coconut.
~ Give each child some yellow frosting, yellow coconut, a piece of candy
corn, two chocolate chips, and a Popsicle stick.
~ Have each child spread yellow frosting on the cupcake and add the
coconut.
~ Add the chocolate chips for the eyes and the candy corn for the beak.
~ Watch everyone go QUACKERS for their treat.
Jj Week
Jelly Sandwiches
Ingredients:

Instructions:
~ Using a knife spread jelly on bread.
~ Then, put another slice of bread on top.
Enjoy!!!!
Jolly Jack-O-Lantern
Ingredients:
1 loaf of bread
16 ozs. of cream cheese
1 box of raisins
1 bag of chocolate chips and candy corn
Directions:
~ Mix softened cream cheese with orange food coloring.
~ Give each child a piece of bread and a pumpkin cookie cutter.
~ Cut the bread, and then add two raisins for the eyes, and a piece of candy corn for the nose.
~ Then add chocolate chips for the mouth.
This treat is great for Halloween!
Xx Week
X's and O's
Ingredients:
1 round chocolate or vanilla wafer per child
1 pkg softened Cream Cheese or white frosting
1 pkg chocolate decorator gel
4 chocolate chips per child
Directions:
~ Frost a round chocolate or vanilla wafer with softened Cream Cheese or white frosting.
~ Use chocolate decorator gel to draw an X across the top of the wafer.
~ Add a chocolate chip "kiss" to each fourth of the wafer.
Ww Week
Wonderful Waffles.
Ingredients:
2 cups sifted flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 eggs, separated
1 1/2 cups milk
5 tablespoons melted shortening
Preparation:
~ Mix and sift dry ingredients.
~ Combine beaten egg yolks, milk and shortening; add to dry ingredients, beating until smooth.
~ Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
~ Pour batter into each section of a hot waffle iron.
~ Cook waffles until crispy and browned.
Qq Week
Queen of Hearts Cherry Tarts
Ingredients:
1 box of graham crackers
2 cans of cherry pie filling
1 tub of soft margarine
2 big boxes of vanilla pudding
1 gallon of milk
Directions:
~ Mix up pudding and milk and set aside.
~ Place one box of graham crackers in a Zip-Lock bag and crush.
~ Add margarine and knead mixture in the Zip-Lock bag.
~ Place a heaping spoonful of the graham cracker mixture into a muffin cup.
~ Add a heaping spoonful of vanilla pudding and cherry pie filling.
~ Use a spoon to eat this royal treat!

Heart Shaped Sandwiches
Ingredients:

Directions:
~ Give each child two pieces of bread, a heart shaped cookie cutter, some jelly, and a
popsicle stick.
~ Each child can cut two heart shapes with their cookie cutter.
~ Then they can spread jelly on their bread to make a sandwich.
(Great for Valentine's Day.)
Hibernation Creation
Ingredients:
1 slice of bread for each child
1 tablespoon peanut butter
3 banana slices per child
10 raisins for each child
Directions:
~ Spread the peanut butter on the bread.
~ Count 2 ears and a snout.
~ Put the banana slices there.
~ Add raisins for eyes, nose and a mouth.
~ Yummy winter time fun!
Hippo Hamburger
Ingredients:
2 vanilla wafers as the "bread"
1 chocolate cookie as the "hamburger"
vanilla frosting mixed with:
red food coloring for the "ketchup", green food coloring for the "lettuce", yellow food coloring for the "mustard"
Directions:
Children can assemble the "sandwich" with the chocolate cookie and assorted frostings.
Top with a second vanilla wafer.

Ingredients:
1 graham cracker for each child
1 tablespoon of peanut butter
3 M&M's (red, green, yellow)
Directions:
Children can spread peanut butter with plastic knife and place each
M&M in the appropriate place.
Variation: use 1 tablespoon of chocolate icing instead of peanut butter

Penguin Treat
Recipe for one treat:
2 chocolate sandwich cookies
2 M & Ms (any color)
3 candy corn
Directions:
~ Twist one cookie apart.
~ Place the cookie with less icing on the top.
~ Place cookie with while icing showing at the bottom.
~ Add two candy corns for the feet.
~ Two M&Ms for the eyes.
~ 1 candy corn for the beak.
~ Break other cookie in half for wings.

Pudding in a Cup
Ingredients:
1/4 cup of Milk
1 tablespoon instant pudding
Materials:
1/4 cup measuring cup
tablespoon measuring spoon
plastic spoon for each child
one 5 ounce cup per child
Directions:
~ Measure the milk and pour it into the cup.
~ Add pudding mix to the cup.
~ Stir mixture well.
Eat and enjoy.
Purple Smoothie
Ingredients
6 cups of Fat free Vanilla Yogurt or Ice Cream
2 cups of milk
1 can of frozen grape juice (thawed)
Directions:
Mix all the ingredients in a blender. Pour about 1/2 cup for each child.
This should serve about 20-24.

Ingredients:
1 pkg. of long pretzels
1 jar of peanut butter
1 large box of raisins
Directions:
Spread peanut butter over the large pretzel with a plastic knife. Drop a few raisins on the peanut butter.

Each child will need the following:
three large marshmallows

~ Stick the three marshmallows on one pretzel.
~ Stick six pretzels (three on each side) in the marshmallows to give the ant legs.
~ Add the chocolate chips to give the ant eyes.

Nests
Ingredients:
8 squares (8 ounces) semisweet chocolate
2 Tbs. vegetable shortening
1 cup crisp rice cereal
1 cup chow mein noodles
1/2 cup sweetened shredded coconut
1 pkg. miniature candy-coated chocolate eggs
Directions:
~ Line 2 baking sheets with waxed paper. In a large microwave-safe bowl,
combine chocolate and shortening.
~Microwave on medium, stirring at 1-minute intervals until chocolate is melted and smooth...about 2 minutes.
~ Gently stir rice cereal, chow mein noodles and coconut into chocolate
mixture until thoroughly blended.
~ Drop chocolate mixture by heaping teaspoonfuls 1 inch apart onto
prepared baking sheets.
~ Using the back of a spoon, make an indentation in each spoonful of
chocolate mixture to form a nest.
~ Place nests on baking sheets in refrigerator for an hour.
~ Fill each nest with candy.
Makes about 20 nests.
Nifty Necklaces
Ingredients:
1 large bag of shoestring Licorice or Twizzlers peeled apart

Directions:
~ Set out bowls filled with Cheerios, Fruit Loops, and Life Savers.
~ Have the students make a pattern with their candies on a piece of wax paper.
~ Add a pretzel in the middle.
~ Tie a large knot on one end of the Licorice string.
~ Let the students string their patterns.
~ Tie ends together, wear, and nibble as needed.

Moo Shake
Ingredients:
chocolate syrup
vanilla ice cream
milk
Directions:
~ In a blender, mix vanilla ice cream and milk for 30 seconds.
~ Pour into a cup and let each child add a squirt of chocolate syrup, stir, and enjoy.
(One verse of "Old McDonald Had a Cow" is a favorite song which can be sung while waiting
for the blender.)
Muddy Clouds
Ingredients:
1 pkg. of marshmallows
1 bottle of chocolate syrup
Directions:
~ Give each child 3-4 marshmallows and 1 tablespoon of chocolate syrup.
~ Children can dip their marshmallows in the syrup and make "Muddy Clouds."

Icy Cream
Ingredients:
1 cup of milk per 2 students
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 tbsp sugar
12 tbsp salt
ice cubes
toppings (sprinkles, chocolate chips, syrup...ect)
Directions:
~ Place the ice and salt inside a gallon Zip-Lock bag.
~ Place all the other ingredients into a quart size bag. Seal the quart size bag after
squeezing all the air out of it.
~ Place the smaller bag inside the larger bag containing ice and salt and seal it.
~ Shake back and forth for about 5 minutes, until the mixture thickens.
~ Pour it into a bowl, add toppings, and enjoy!
*You can also do this as a class by using a big coffee can and rolling it around!

Scary Spider Snacks
Ingredients:
1 Ritz cracker
1 spoonful of peanut butter (or chocolate icing)
8 pretzel sticks (legs)
2 Skittles (eyes)
Directions:
~ Spread peanut butter over cracker.
~Place 4 pretzels on each side of the
cracker.
~ Choose spooky eyes from Skittles or M&Ms.
Golden Graham Smores
Ingredients:
3/4 c. light corn syrup
3 tbsp. butter
1 pkg. (11.5 oz.) milk chocolate morsels
3 c. miniature marshmallows
1 tsp. vanilla
1 pkg. (12 oz.) Golden Graham cereal (9 c.)
Directions:
~ Grease rectangular pan, 13x9x2 inches.
~ Heat syrup, butter and morsels to boiling, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla.
~ Pour over cereal; toss until coated. Fold in marshmallows, 1 cup at a time. Press in pan with buttered back of spoon. Let stand 1 hour.
~ Cut into 2 inch squares. Store loosely covered at room temperature up to 2 days. Makes 24 squares
This is a great snack during camping day!
Snowballs
Ingredients:
6 cups of Rice Krispies
stick of butter
10 ounce bag of marshmallows
powdered sugar
Directions:
~ An adult should melt the margarine in a saucepan and stir in the marshmallows until
smooth.
~ Stir in the Rice Krispies.
~ After the mixture has cooled slightly, give each child a little butter for their hands.
~ Give each child some of the mixture and have them roll it into a ball.
~ Give each child a zip-lock bag with some confectioner's sugar.
~ Help them close the bag and shake it.
(Makes approximately 24 two-inch "snowballs". The children will have a "ball!")
Snowbird Snack
Ingredients for one child:
1 graham cracker
marshmallow creme
5 raisins
5 mini chocolate chips
sunflower seeds
Directions:
~ Spread a tablespoon of marshmallow creme over a graham cracker.
~ Count 5 raisins (for birds)
~ Give each bird a beak. (chip)
~ Sprinkle with sunflower seeds.

Fish Snack Ingredients:
1 large pretzel stick
1 jar of peanut butter

1 16oz. Box of Goldfish crackers
Directions:
Pour some of the Goldfish crackers in the bowl
Dip the end of the pretzel stick in the jar of peanut butter
Stick the pretzel in the bowl of Goldfish and go fishing!
Fly Pie
Ingredients:
1 large box of vanilla pudding
3 cups of milk
1 box of vanilla wafers
1 bag of chocolate chips
cupcake liner for each child
Directions:
~ Mix pudding according to the directions on the package.
~ Place one vanilla wafer in a cupcake liner.
~ Scoop one spoonful (about a Tablespoon) of pudding over wafer.
~ Sprinkle chocolate chips on top.

Reindeer Sandwiches
Ingredients:
1 slice of bread per child
1 spoonful of peanut butter
2 straight pretzels
2 M&M's (or 2 raisins)
1 red M&M (or 1 red hot)
Directions:
~ Trim the crusts off the bread and cut the slice into a triangle.
~Spread peanut butter over the bread; place the 2 pretzels like antlers on
the long side of the triangle; place the M&M's for the eyes and mouth.
This is a classroom favorite and the children love creating the sandwich.
Thanksgiving Feast
Navajo Fry Bread
Sift together:
1 cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
Blend in about:
~ 1/2 cup lukewarm water
~ Stir with a fork until you have dough that can be worked with.
~ Roll out 1/4" thick and cut into 2"squares.
~ You may poke a hole in the middle if you wish.
~ Fry in hot oil (1/2") until puffed---then turn
and brown on the other side.
~Drain on a paper towel.
Serve hot and dip in honey, jam, fruit, gravy or butter.
Butter
Fill a clean baby food jar half full of whipping cream.
Screw the lid on tightly. Let two children take
turns shaking the jar. After about 10 minutes, the
cream will be whipped. Lumps of yellow butter will form.
Drain off the liquid and add a little salt, if desired.
Spread the butter on Indian Fry Bread or crackers.
*This recipe is great at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Rising Rolls
Ingredients:
1 can of Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
8 large marshmallows
Melted butter
Cinnamon and sugar mixed together
Directions:
~ Give each child one rectangle section of dough.
~ Give each child one large marshmallow.
~ Let each child roll their marshmallow in the melted butter.
Then, dip the marshmallow into the cinnamon sugar mixture.
~ Have each child place the marshmallow on their section of dough and carefully wrap it.
Make sure all edges are pinched tight!
~ Place the rolls in the oven.
~ Bake the rolls, following the directions on the package.
Makes 8 rolls.

Kite Bites
Ingredients:
1 slice of sandwich bread per child
peanut butter
fruit flavored cream cheese
grape jelly
strawberry jam
1 red string licorice per child
Directions:
~ Cut the crust off each bread slice ahead of time.
~ Then cut each slice into four triangular pieces.
~ Spread each topping on each triangle.
~ Put them together to form a kite. Add the licorice for a kite tail.

Ingredients:

1" circle cookie cutter
2" circle cookie cutter

Directions:
~ Give each child two pieces of bread, some peanut butter, brown M&M’s, a red hot, and 3 raisins, and a Popsicle stick.
~ Have the children to use the cookie cutter to cut 2 small circles and 1 large circle from a piece of wheat bread.
~ Arrange the circles to make a face and 2 ears.
~ Spread on the peanut butter with the Popsicle stick and add the 2 brown M & M's for the eyes, a red hot for the nose, and 3 raisins for the mouth.
Butterfly Snack
Ingredients:
1 slice of bread for each child
1 cucumber spear for each child
cream cheese
Directions:
~ Peel the cucumbers and then cut them into spears ahead of time.
~ Use a butterfly-shaped cookie cutter to cut each bread slice.
~ Spread the cream cheese on the bread.
~ Place the cucumber spear in the middle.
~ Roll the bread up.
~Then unroll to find a butterfly!

Unusual Punch
Ingredients:
2 packages strawberry Kool-Aid
2 cups sugar
2 quarts water
2 quarts Pineapple Juice
2 16oz cans Fruit Cocktail (drained)

~ Blend ingredients together and pour into cups.
~ Add 4-5 miniature marshmallows to float on top!

Australian Chocolate Truffles
Ingredients:
¾ cup sweetened condensed milk
12 oz. chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions:
~ Melt chocolate.
~ Add all the other ingredients.
~Mix and cool in refrigerator for 10 minutes.
~ Roll into balls.
~ Then roll in candy sprinkles.

Zany Zoo
Ingredients:
1 graham cracker per child
2 can of white frosting
1 bag of Animal Crackers
1 bag of coconut
blue and green food coloring
blue and green crystal sprinkles
Directions:
~ Mix half of 1 can of frosting with blue food coloring.
~ Mix the other half of frosting with coconut and green food coloring.
~ Give each child a graham cracker and have them spread on white frosting with a Popsicle stick.
~ Use green coconut and sprinkles to make grass in one corner of the graham cracker.
~ Use blue frosting and sprinkles to make a pond.
~ Place several animal crackers in your zoo.

Ingredients:

Directions:
~ Give each child a graham cracker and some marshmallow cream.
~ Have them spread the marshmallow cream on with a plastic knife.
~ Then add some sprinkles for the "Confetti!"

Eggstraterrestrial
Ingredients:
12 hard-boiled eggs
3 tbsp. Creamy Italian Dressing
48 thin pretzel sticks
48 mini marshmallows
24 peanuts
48 olive slices
green food coloring
Directions:
~ Peel and halve the hard-boiled eggs. Remove the yolks, put in a bowl and
mash with a fork.
~ Add 3 tbsp of Creamy Italian Dressing to the yolks and stir.
~ Add a few drops of green food coloring until the mixture becomes "alien
green."
~ Stuff the eggs with the yolk mixture.
~ Place a mini marshmallow on the end of each pretzel stick. Use two of
these to make antennas.
~ Then add 2 olive slice eyes and 1 peanut nose to each egg to complete your
eggstraterrestrial!

The children will be able to eat a variety of yellow foods like bananas, cheese, lemons, yellow skittles, yellow M&M’s etc.
Yummy Yams
Ingredients:
1/2 or 1/4 precooked yam per child
1 tbsp brown sugar per child
5 mini marshmallows per child

Directions:
~ Peel the yam and slice it into circles.
~ Place the circles on a piece of aluminum foil.
~ Sprinkle each circle with brown sugar and top with 5 mini marshmallows. Yummy!
~ (If a toaster oven is available, lightly brown the yams.)

Dandy Dirt Dessert
Ingredients:
2 pkgs. of instant chocolate pudding (2tbsp. per child)
1/2 gallon of milk (3 tbsp. per child)
1 pkg. of Oreo Cookies
Gummy worms
Directions:
~ Give each child a cup with 3 tablespoons of milk.
~ Let each student measure out two tablespoons of instant pudding mix and mix with a spoon.
~ Give each child a Zip-lock bag and a sandwich cookie. They can smash the cookie in the bag.
~ Pour the cookie crumbs on top of the pudding.
~ Add a yummy gummy worm!

Ducky Treats
Ingredients:

yellow food coloring

Directions:
~ Have an adult prepare cupcakes for the duck's head using a yellow cake
mix.
~ Mix some yellow food coloring with the coconut.
~ Give each child some yellow frosting, yellow coconut, a piece of candy
corn, two chocolate chips, and a Popsicle stick.
~ Have each child spread yellow frosting on the cupcake and add the
coconut.
~ Add the chocolate chips for the eyes and the candy corn for the beak.

~ Cut the bread, and then add two raisins for the eyes, and a piece of candy corn for the nose.
~ Then add chocolate chips for the mouth.

Ingredients:
1 round chocolate or vanilla wafer per child
1 pkg softened Cream Cheese or white frosting
1 pkg chocolate decorator gel
4 chocolate chips per child
Directions:
~ Frost a round chocolate or vanilla wafer with softened Cream Cheese or white frosting.
~ Use chocolate decorator gel to draw an X across the top of the wafer.
~ Add a chocolate chip "kiss" to each fourth of the wafer.

Ingredients:
2 cups sifted flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 eggs, separated
1 1/2 cups milk
5 tablespoons melted shortening
Preparation:
~ Mix and sift dry ingredients.
~ Combine beaten egg yolks, milk and shortening; add to dry ingredients, beating until smooth.
~ Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
~ Pour batter into each section of a hot waffle iron.
~ Cook waffles until crispy and browned.

Queen of Hearts Cherry Tarts
Ingredients:
1 box of graham crackers
2 cans of cherry pie filling
1 tub of soft margarine
2 big boxes of vanilla pudding
1 gallon of milk
Directions:
~ Mix up pudding and milk and set aside.
~ Place one box of graham crackers in a Zip-Lock bag and crush.
~ Add margarine and knead mixture in the Zip-Lock bag.
~ Place a heaping spoonful of the graham cracker mixture into a muffin cup.
~ Add a heaping spoonful of vanilla pudding and cherry pie filling.
~ Use a spoon to eat this royal treat!
